Here are a few tips I've used to keep this 'nickle and dime' cost down: - Pack breakfast, lunch or snacks instead of stopping at expensive roadside restaurants or service areas. Still be sure to take a break, but enjoy food that isn't jacked up in price when you do.
- Check your oil and air pressure in your tires. This is especially important if your teen is the one who has been driving the car. Keeping these two items at optimum levels will save you on gas.
- Pack a cooler with water bottles and add single size flavors. You can find many different single size flavor packets at the grocery store, along with a case of bottled water for 60% cheaper than the flavor water they sell at gas and go stores.
