Check out a few of them this week. | | Tom Cruise on Fatherhood Tom Cruise is featured this month in Esquire Magazine and in his interview, he focuses on fatherhood. A couple of quotes: "I'll never forget the moment I became a dad. But it's hard to describe -- that level of responsibility, the desire to give such joy." Read more | New Study from Boston College on New Dads The Boston College Center for Work and Family has released a new study looking at today's new fathers and how they differ from past generations of new dads. The study found that new dads see their role less as breadwinners and more as needing to "be there" with the family. Researchers also found that the growing number of women in the workforce and recent corporate downsizing resulting in more stay-at-home dads have helped change some of these perceptions over the last several years. Read more | President Obama Launches Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative | Let's Give Dad a Little Respect In The Fayetteville (North Carolina) Observer, Mary Zahran offered a very positive opinion piece on the importance of fathers in today's world. She discusses how the media today portrays fathers (think Homer Simpson) as compared to a few years ago (think Andy Griffith) and then suggests that we all ought to have a bit more respect for the fathers in our lives.
