From Carrie Craft, your Guide to Adoption

Family Day is a national movement that focuses on the family dinner table. I'll be honest. We're horrible about eating together as a family. It's something we need to work on.....and based on research from Columbia University, very important.

September 27 - Put it on Your Calendars
The idea is to help children avoid substance abuse problems by encouraging more parent/child communication. Communication at the dinner table.

Book Review: A Simple Brown Leaf
How about enjoying a book together after your family dinner? It's officially fall, so how about a children's book about a little brown leaf and the many changes he goes through in a year. Perhaps it'll spark communication about changes going on in your child's life or family's life?

How Have You Mentored a Birth Parent Through Foster Care?
If you're far enough along in the fostering relationship with a birth parent, enjoying a dinner together may be a wonderful opportunity, especially if the child is close to going back home. How have you worked successfully with a birth parent? Please share your ideas with other fostering families.
