From Wayne Parker, your Guide to Fatherhood
Communication is so important in any relationship, but some topics are easier than others. Whether it is talking about September 11, sex, or divorce, there are some really hard parts to teaching our kids.

Talking About September 11
Will your kids have questions about September 11? You bet. And you can be sure it will be a topic of conversation at school this week. If you are looking for some guidance on dealing with the issues of terrorism and personal safety, check out my suggestions for talking about September 11.

Talking to Your Kids About Sex
Talking to your kids about sex can be one of the trickier assignments for fathers. When you do start the discussion? How much should you say? How can you have the discussion in the context of your family and personal values? Do you treat the issue differently with your son than your daughter? And how do you address the issues of responsible sexuality with your teens? Here are some ideas from dads who have done well with "the talk."

Being Safe To and From School
"Parents are more concerned now than ever about the safety of their children on the way to and from school and while they are there. What can fathers do to help reduce the risk of injury or harm to their kids?

Communicating in Your Child's Love Language
Every child has or her own way of receiving love; Gary Chapman in his book The Five Love Languages explains five different ways people understand love from others. Find out which love language your child speaks and how to best communicate love to her in her own language.
