A number of controversial issues popped up this week, starting with kids' health advocates pointing out the multiple instances of tobacco use (not to mention the violence and rude language) in the new kid-friendly hit movie Rango. Another headline, about parents in a Florida elementary school who protested their school's measures to protect a nut-allergic first grader, generated heated debate among Parenting School Age Children readers. Also in the news: A new study that suggests that parents exaggerate their happiness about having kids because we want to make ourselves feel better about the fact that kids wallop us financially, physically, and emotionally. And finally, a reminder that flu season is not yet over (so remember to keep up those healthy habits and strengthen your family's immune system).

Parents Protest a School's Nut-Free Policy
