Car Seats Must Be Used Correctly
This story was in the local news, but it provides a big safety message to parents with kids in car seats, so I don't want you to miss it. This toddler was ejected from the vehicle during a crash, and she was killed. Responding officers believe that she was in a car seat when the wreck happened, but the car seat was not being used correctly.
| New Maclaren Stroller Hinge Warning
One million Maclaren strollers were recalled in late 2009 because the side hinges could pinch fingers, resulting in injuries including fingertip amputation. Ouch, right? CPSC has issued a new warning, because there are still un-repaired strollers out there, and people are still getting their fingers stuck in them.
| CPSC Safety Warning On Phil & Ted's MeToo Clip-On Chairs
The manufacturer has not yet issued a recall on these clip-on dining chairs, but CPSC feels there's enough risk to issue a warning. These chairs can allow children to fall from table-height, or pinch their fingers on the front bar, causing cuts and bruises.
| Sunshine Kids Radian SuperLatch Issues?
There's no official warning from a government agency or the manufacturer on this one. It's just something to be aware of if you're using a Sunshine Kids Radian car seat with the SuperLatch belt. Some families have found that the shape of the vehicle seat poses a problem for getting (and keeping) a tight SuperLatch installation, while others have had the belt loosen from normal vehicle motion or toddler toes hitting the belt lock while rear-facing.
