| | Glee Tackles Teen Plastic Surgery Issues and a Poll So your teen has inherited what has been referred to with affection in previous generations, as the 'family nose'. But for them, it is the bane of their existence. They have attached their confidence to this imperfection, bringing their self-esteem down and therefore, want to get rid of their nose. What would you do? Would you let your teen change their appearance permanently? What if the situation was different, like if your teen had acne scars or their face was hurt in an accident? All valid questions that would make a interesting discussion with your teen, right? Right!
If you need an ice breaker, Glee's Born This Way will be up on their site for viewing for the next 170 days or so. One of the lead characters, Rachel, is considering a nose job. The show is titled after Lady Gaga's song of the same name(Listen to the whole song here. Really. It's worth your time.) with a chorus that states: "I'm beautiful in my way, 'Cause God makes no mistakes" and "Don't hide yourself in regret, Just love yourself and you're set". I think it may be my favorite Glee yet and I'm adding that song to my teen daughter's iPod - mine too.
So, weight in on the new poll and let us know what you think about teens changing their looks permanently with surgery in the comments area.
