| | 25 Ways to Say I Love You to Teens | CDC Recommending Meningitis Vaccine for Teens The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that teenagers should get vaccinated to protect against the bacteria that causes meningococcal meningitis. They are calling for a routine vaccination of adolescents, preferably at age 11 or 12 years, with a booster dose at age 16. According to the CDC, approximately 2,600 people in the nation contract meningococcal disease each year and about 1 in 10 die.
I think this is a good idea. Meningococcal meningitis causes some severe disabilities when it is survived. So if it can be prevented, I'm all for it.
