Is the Internet and Social Networking Good or Bad for Teens?
On Feb. 29th, the Pew Research Center and Elon University's Imagining the Internet project, released the results of a survey of 1,021 Internet "experts" asked to weigh in on whether growing up in a hyper-connected world - 95% of teens 12 to 17 are online, 76% use social networking sites and 77% have cellphones - will have a net positive effect or a net negative effect on today's youth. The results were split, 55% positive, 43% negative and the rest not sure. And I, of course, wondered what you thought. So here is a poll. Let's get parents of teens weighing in on this!

It has been over ten years since the Columbine shooting and I wonder if anything has been learned. Except maybe that it is impossible to get a school safety program through the politics of the U.S. educational system in just ten short years. But there are no more butter knives in the cafeteria.

School boards have the power to set up safety precautions that can keep guns out of schools. Parents of students have the most pull with school boards.
