From Maureen Ryan, your Guide to Toddlers and Twos
I am far from the laid-back mom I'd like to be. I yell, I've considered putting a helmet on my toddler to avoid head bumps, and I have extensive rules around food based on fear of choking. One thing I don't stress over, though, is kid messes. I'm fine with finger paints on my kitchen floor, I encourage my 15-month old to feed himself, and I love to see my kids pounding on a lump of playdough -- even if clumps inevitably end up mushed into the living room rug and stuck in everyone's hair. It's just too much fun to say no. With the weather warming, you can take the fun outdoors if you prefer, but either way, I recommend sharing a little playdough fun this week. Enjoy! Maureen
