From Heather Corley, your Guide to Baby Products
More recalls of baby and toddler products this week, plus a new warning about crib safety from CPSC. It's frightening to think that the products you buy for your baby might cause harm, but some careful checking of recall lists (and a watchful eye over the items your baby is in contact with) can help prevent injuries.

Step 2 Riding Toy Recall
About 2.5 million riding toys from Step 2 are recalled because a pin attached to the yellow knob on the handle can loosen, allowing the handle to detach. Some of these riding toys are a decade old, so you may want to check the attic if you've been saving old toys for later use.

Children's Giraffe Blankets Sold at Target Recalled
These sweet little giraffe blankets are being recalled because they pose a choking hazard. The blankets have a stuffed animal on top with a "lovey" type blanket on the bottom.

New CPSC Warning on Drop-Side Cribs
The information in this warning isn't so new, but it's important enough that CPSC feels it's worth repeating. Drop-side cribs, especially older cribs, can have some structural and hardware problems that pose serious risks to your baby.

What Should I Do When Baby Products Are Recalled?
There are lots of potential remedies for baby products recalls. Some can be handled at home (removing a drawstring), while some must be left to the manufacturer (crib repairs). Learn more about how to handle a recall that affects your baby.
