Fast Food Kids' Meals - Are They All Bad?

I just read over on Katherine Lee's blog that a county in California has approved a bill that would get rid of toys in kids' meals if they don't meet certain "healthy" criteria. What? You know, on one hand, I can see where that's not a half-bad idea. In theory. In reality, I see it as one more way California takes the power out of a parent's hands and puts it square in the hands of government, instead. I'd rather parents were making those choices. After watching the recent Jamie Oliver show and seeing how the government is handling school lunches, I don't trust completely that they'll do such a wonderful job.
One person commented on Katherine's post that,

"I am the parent and when I say no, it means no. Parents need to also be held accountable for what they are feeding their children. We tend to give in to our children more often than we want to but when comes to their health I stick to my answer. Happy Meals are a good treat every once in awhile and I think the toys should remain a part of them."

And I tend to agree. Why blame Burger King or another restaurant when we're the ones making the choices? I choose healthy food for my family quite often but sometimes, either because we're on the go and don't have time for a family meal or we just feel like it, we give in to some fast food. I know other parents do, too, because I see them there at Taco Cabana giving in along with me and probably sitting down for the first time all day. That choice is mine, though, and I want to keep it. Toy and all.
So, if you've ever given in, or hey, if fast food kids' meals are a way of life for you, I would like to hear your opinion about them (including the toy). Are they all bad? Have you ever come across one that your toddler just refused to eat or does she love them all? Do you like some of the new choices available like swapping fries for fruit or do you go for the fries anyway? Let me know what you think by sharing a review of the kids' meals your toddler has eaten. (You can read other parents' reviews, too.) Good or bad, we want to know.
