| | Step2 Basic Rhythm Drums Recall Photo © CPSC There are several recalls parents should be aware of this week. First, Step2 is recalling its Basic Rhythm Drums because the clips that attach the drumsticks to the drum (see image right) can break and those small pieces can cause choking. Stop using the product and contact Step2 at 866-860-1887 or on their website to receive a replacement product. | Two Different Cribs Recalled: Graco and Simplicity Also this week, two different cribs are being recalled. You've probably heard about other Simplicity crib recalls and here's another one. This time, the problem is with the metal tubing that supports the mattress. A 1-year-old child died after he got trapped between the frame and mattress and other injuries have been reported as well. Though some model numbers are known (not all are) the CPSC is including all Simplicity cribs with metal tubing supports in this recall. So, if you see metal tubes, you should stop using the crib. Also, since Simplicity is out of business, you'll need to contact the store where the crib was purchased to work out some sort of replacement or refund. The other crib that is being recalled is a drop-side crib made by Graco. The problem here is similar to other issues with drop-side cribs: Hardware failure can create fall, suffocation and entrapment hazards. Model numbers on these cribs are known (check to see if yours matches here) and Graco is offering a free kit to permanently immobilize the drop side. Get it by calling 888-842-2215 or visiting the maker's website. In the meantime, stop using the crib until you get the kit. | A Baby / Toddler Swimsuit Recalled from Gap, Inc. Photo © CPSC Gap, Inc., is recalling a swimsuit (seen here in red but it also came in blue) that can cause a strangulation hazard. The strings are so short that the plastic ring can end up pressing against your child's throat and obstruct her breathing. Yikes. Gap is offering a full refund which you can get more information about by calling 888-747-3704, emailing or visiting their website. | Medicines Recalled Including Tylenol and Benadryl Lastly, McNeil Consumer Healthcare is recalling certain medicines that you probably have in your medicine cabinet: Tylenol Infants' Drops, Children's Tylenol Suspensions, Children's Tylenol Plus Suspensions, Motrin Infant Drops, Children's Motrin Suspensions, Children's Motrin Cold Suspensions, Children's Zyrtec Liquids in Bottles and Children's Benadryl Allergy Liquids in Bottles. Why? According to the company, "Some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified; others may contain inactive ingredients that may not meet internal testing requirements; and others may contain tiny particles." By calling 888-222-6036 or visiting the company's website you can obtain a refund or a coupon for a replacement product. | | | | Toddlers Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | More from About.com | | | | | | Disney Trip Planner Everything you need to plan the perfect Disney vacation -- from when to go and what to do, to saving money and picking a hotel.
