| | ESPN Body Issue 2010, Is This What We Want? ESPN magazine is releasing their second Body Issue this week which is all about pictures of athletes in the nude. They call it their 'second annual exploration and celebration of the athletic form'. It is being promoted as photographic art, as the body of an athlete is something we as a society value and many teens aspire to create for themselves. But do we want our teenagers to aspire to posing nude for millions to see? Is that why they play sports? Aren't we already having problems because teens are sexting and using web-cams this way? Critics of the ESPN Body Issue say it's a marketing ploy to rival Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. It's a good business move and that their business is exploiting these athletes because people buy magazines when they know there are people posing naked. So, back to the question: Is this part of the fame and glory we want our teen athletes to desire? Do you think that ESPN is producing art or is it exploiting athletes? Please share your thoughts, opinions and views in the comments area.
