Teens Text - A Lot! - While Companies Make 6000% Profit
Nielsen found that teens(ages 13-19) send or receive an average of 3,339 texts per month. Those between the ages of 13 and 17 send or receive an average of 4,050 texts per month, far more than any other age group. That makes the average cost at 10 cents a text $334 per month. But many plans charge 20 cents per message. If you don't have an unlimited plan for your teen, this is going to add up.

Now, let's consider the cost of sending a text. Computer science professor Srinivasan Keshav at the University of Waterloo in Ontario analyzed the numbers and testified before Congress last June that, even if you add in accounting, it only costs the carriers three-tenths of a cent to process a text. If your teen's texts costs you 10 cents, that's 3000% profit, @.20 it's a 6000% profit! OMG!

How much are you spending for your teen to text? It may be time to call your service provider with some suggestions about lowering your rate, huh? Or maybe you should just text them. Please share your thoughts in the comments area.

Free Printable Halloween Coupons
Not sure what to treat your teen with this Halloween? Try one of these free printable coupons. You can send them to your young adults at college as an I.O.U. or give them to your teen just for the fun of it. The one I have found that teens enjoy the most is the 'one free morning of sleeping in'. And wow, it's free for us to be able to give that to them, huh? Works well all the way around.
